How do Church Work Scholarships make a difference for church work students? The Rev. Patrick Gumz (Mission Executive, Central Illinois District of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod), Nicholas Seibert (Vicar at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Springfield, IL) and Oliver Braaten (Freshman, Concordia University, Nebraska) join Andy and Sarah for our Set Apart to Serve series to talk about Pastor Gumz’s story of church work formation, what Christian formation has looked like for all three of them, their individual stories of considering church work vocations, how congregations are a part of the culture helping to form church workers, how church work scholarships are important for students in their formation journey, and why it is important for LCMS Districts to support church worker formation.
Christ’s church will continue until He returns, and that church will continue to need church workers.
Set Apart to Serve (SAS) is an initiative of the LCMS to recruit church workers. Together, we pray for workers for the Kingdom of God and encourage children to consider church work vocations.
Here are three easy ways you can participate in SAS:
1. Pray with your children for God to provide church workers.
2. Talk to your children about becoming church workers.
3. Thank God for the people who work in your congregation.
